Personal:

I know Sasha from the CS program at BYU. We both graduated in 1997. He probably doesn't remember me, because he was definitely more vocal in class and among the students than I was.

Married to Teresa with 3 kids: Anders (4), Kristian (9), and Zoe (12).

Fluent in Danish, but there is obviously very little need for that.

Did 4.5 miles at 8000 feet on trails and dirt roads. It is feeling better. Almost normal after I warmed up. I certainly felt much better after I was done than before I started, which tells me that the runs are good and keep me loose.

AM: Did 3.5 miles warmup around the cabin (8000 feet elevation).

Afternoon: Did 7 miles of single track trail at 7000 feet elevation. I was in some pain at the end, so I walked part of the last mile. Ironically, I felt pretty good the rest of the day. I'll do some work tomorrow on artificial turf and see how that goes.

I didn't enter this race report until a month after the race. I guess I was disappointed with my overall performance. Not that it was really bad, but I have run 1:16 and change the last several years at Provo River. I think my big problem was my achilles tendonitis, which has both cut into my training and slowed me down a little in the race. After I finished, I couldn't walk right for about 4 days. Fortunately, I was finally able to get the tendonitis under control at the end of August with some prednisone.

After months of battling an achilles injury, I finally got into the doctor on Wednesday and got some prednisone to control the inflamation. Within a couple days, I was feeling good and able to walk first thing in the morning with no pain. The run Friday morning felt pretty good, and this morning's run felt great.

We all met up at Brighton to do 16 x .75 loops. We started out without a warmup, just to see how our muscles would respond and how much easier the 2nd and 3rd loops would be compared to the 1st. It was a tough workout at close to 9000 feet.

It's been the injury, a somewhat disappointing race at the Provo River 1/2 Marathon, and a vacation in Southern CA that have kept me from blogging. I'll try to get back on it leading up to the marathon (St George).

No running today. I have to be careful to make sure I'm getting healed enough on the achilles injury for the marathon. I did some laps at the pool and saw Scott there (in my running group). 1200 meters total.
